Tory Wolf pack closing in on the workers!

There is no point in putting on a brave face. The Tory wolves are off the leash and gunning for the working class. Young people will be starved into jobs that pay a pittance. They plan to effectively abolish the right to strike and build a big brother society without democratic rights.

Locally we see electoral advances for both the DUP and UUP. The return of Villiers as secretary of state indicates a continuation of a British policy of conciliating loyalism. The twin poles of the Stormont House Agreement - imposing austerity and enforcing sectarian division - will be applied.

Those who claim to oppose austerity have been worse than useless. Sinn Fein have defined themselves as a Catholic party and support 99% of the austerity agenda. The Trade unions called a truce. The small socialist intervention mostly parroted the union pleas for mercy.

The task is straightforward. Build a united socialist opposition committed to representing the interests of the Irish working class as a whole.

Given the readiness of the ruling class to use the weapon of sectarianism, the stakes could not be higher.
